EXPERIENCE MATTERS
Continuing to Promote Excellence in Holmdel’s Schools
My name is Elizabeth Urbanski and I am running for re-election to the Holmdel Board of Education to continue the good work that is happening in the district. Since being sworn in in January 2020 the district has undergone many positive changes. We have a newly appointed full-time superintendent, a focus on improving rankings, consistency and quality of education, a fiscally responsible budget, and successfully navigated through the pandemic with the emphasis on keeping the schools open for the students. I am a very active and committed member of the board. I have had the honor of serving as the head of the Curriculum and Instruction committee as well as currently being the President of the school board. Holmdel has a reputation as an excellent school system and we need to make sure we continually work to elevate all aspects of the educational experience for students and families.
I am an advocate for parents and children. Those who know me, know that I bring a strong voice and personal conviction to the Board. I believe in an excellent and equitable education for all children. I believe in best practices and transparency in decision making. I believe strongly that the Board of Education is the voice of the citizens of Holmdel. It is an important duty to represent both the parents and the children of Holmdel. The Board, as policy makers, helps set the direction of the school and the community’s input and oversight is essential. An active engaged board is essential for the school district’s success and I speak on your behalf at every opportunity.
My children are fourth generation Holmdel residents and I am a third generation resident and taxpayer. We reside on our family’s organic tree farm in Holmdel, which is where I grew up and where we are raising our children. All of our three children have attended Holmdel Schools and we have had direct experience of the entire system, from the Village School to the High School. I understand the unique history of Holmdel Township and the Holmdel School system which combines both academic excellence, and engaged and educated parents, within a pastoral environment.
